I-India Project Australia’s goal is to construct, fit-out, maintain and operate the “Jhag Children’s Village” to aid destitute street children and the marginalised poor from the local villages. The centre is managed by our experienced partner, Indian NGO I-India, and includes a comprehensive system of services designed to provide a safe and nurturing home environment, health, nutrition, support, counselling, education and soon - vocational training through Franklyn Scholar Vocational Training Centres. By providing basic support, skills and opportunities, the centre will allow the children and those in the community who are marginalised due to their poverty and lack of education the opportunity to work themselves out of the poverty cycle, and to ensure better lives for their children. In particular we aim to promote the empowerment, equality and fair treatment of women and girls. Construction of the residential and educational facility provides the opportunity for local workers to gain experience and expertise in the construction field, and helps reduce poverty by stimulating the local economy.
The purpose of I-India Project Australia is to promote understanding and awareness in the Australian community of the cultural conditions and customs that result in large-scale deprivation and suffering. We aim to foster a spirit of generosity and concern for the welfare of others less fortunate than ourselves.
